How I help athletes
- Recovery – sports massage after training, a race or a hard training block.
- Overload – a sore calf, Achilles, ‘runner’s knee’, shin splints, tennis elbow, a shoulder from swimming or bench pressing.
- Race preparation – a short massage 2–3 days beforehand and taping 1–2 days beforehand.
- Range of motion – joint mobilisation for the ankle, hip or shoulder.
- Injury prevention – stability exercises for the trunk, hips and shoulder blades.
- Return after injury – gradually rebuilding strength and confidence in movement.
How I work
- Initial assessment – we talk about where and when it hurts, what makes it worse and how you move during the day.
- Diagnosis – by looking, movement and touch.
- Manual therapy – manual release of muscle chains in their wider context.
- Targeted exercises – targeted exercise for strength and long-term relief.
